Membership Information
Glyfada, Athens 23/12/09
Dear Member,
We wish to update you about the developments on membership issues. As you may be aware, since November 2008, the PGAs of Europe have established an advanced membership criteria combined with advanced education/training programs, so that all PGA Qualified Professionals have core skills and competences that meet the European standards. The PGA of Greece since the beginning of this year started working with the Educational Committee of the PGAs of Europe for the above process and it is currently under a procedure in order to establish its own recognized educational programme for all of its members. The PGA of Greece, as all member counties of the PGAs of Europe, is required to follow common membership criteria. In fact, the first training/educating seminar by the PGAs of Europe, which you may have attended, was organized here in Athens in November 2009 for all members of the PGA of Greece.
Under this context, and in order for our Association to continue its recognized status by following the above developments in the European level, all of our members, not qualified in Greece or by their local PGA, will be required to evidence qualification. If that is not possible, then such members will be required to attend a playing ability test (during our Aegean Mini Tour – 6 competitions) by the end of June 2010. If such test is passed successfully, then your membership in the PGA of Greece will be confirmed. During the above period (January 2010-June 2010) you may hold “probated” membership subject to your agreement that you wish to follow the above process.
Thank you and may we take this opportunity to wish you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
With kind regards,
Adonis Sotiropoulos
General Secretary of the PGA
